In a few days my brothers will kill a pig and bar-b-cue it to celebrate two people return from Iraq. It's not the same as a sheep, but the concept is the same, it will cost the pig blood, his life's substance. One of those individuals being celebrated because of their returm is me. Therefore, the pig is giving up his life's sustaining blood on my behalf. Jesus gave up His life's sustaining blood for the whole world, which included me.
The words to the song about the blood of Jesus has new meaning:
There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's vein;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
Dear dying Lamb,they precious blood shall never lose its power
Till all the ransomed church of God be save to sin no more.
That one of my favorite hymns and to think Jeus gave his blood for me. I can rejoice, just and I will in a few days.
