"Let's consider the ways we have been cared for as well as the people God asked us to care for" (p33)
Last night I found myself enjoying a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium, thanks to the generosity of a fellow church member. It caused me to reflect on the words above, and consider just how MANY times I and my family have been blessed by those in our flock. Meals, getaway weekends, special activities and unexpected gifts - not to mention a steady pay check that has always provided for our needs - we have been comforted and cared for in innumerable ways.
My ministry experience has taught me that sometimes the sheep can bite. And it hurts. However, I've also learned the sweetness of kindness and grace. It serves me well to reflect on how much grace I have been shown, as I strive to care for those who are at times obstinate, ungrateful, or not easy to love.[/quote] |
