With the author of Psalm 121 I can say: “My help comes from the LORD … he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore … He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” I know I am safe, because my Chief Shepherd is standing the watch.

As a shepherd, I must stand the watch for those under my care, while maintaining awareness that God, “as Owner of the flock” never slumbers nor sleeps. I can stand down and enjoy a good night of sleep knowing that God “has the watch.”
