The goats are more susceptible to harmful exposure to the elements. They are also, supposedly, smarter, more independent, more given to the role of the leader. Let this be a word taken under advisement for us smart, independent, leaders. Our natural tendencies and strengths can lead us into situations where we are in danger. This will, naturally, endanger those who are following us as well.

I remember mountain climbing on a unseasonable cold and rainy day. Most of us took the proper precautions, putting on additonal and appropriate clothing and even eating a little extra to supply the energy our bodies were burning to keep us warm.

The leader of the group, who was also the strongest, did not take the careful (let us emphasize care) precautions. He didn't think he needed to. Well by late afternoon he had all the symptoms of hypothermia. He was confused, apathetic, fatigued, and faltering.

Lord help us to take care of ourselves. Help us to have the awareness of our needs so we can do well, bringing honor and glory to you and the Kingdom.
