These two animals are most commonly used as sacrifices in the ancient world. Experienced, skillful and responsible shepherds are those who know not only the distinct difference between these two animals, but they also understand the necessary idiosyncrasies of each member. A discerning pastor is one who knows how to feed his flock with God’s Word through the pulpit; as well as who knows the needs of the individual person.
I organized a house dedication service for a cell member one month ago and had the opportunity to share Christ with her father. Subsequently, her father suffered a stroke and was hospitalized twice over a span of three weeks. After I preached in my church last week, I happened to talk to her and asked about her dad. She teared as she shared. She had decided to resign from her job to help take care of her father as it had been a very stressful month; house moving, running to and fro hospital/office/home. The top concern in her heart is for her dad’s salvation. I am thankful for the opportunity to be there to listen to the cries of her heart.
