dichotomy of care?
There is such a delicate marriage of sound theological truth and pastoral comfort that necessitated by every situation of suffering/pain. Seasoned and wiser preachers have preached with that dichotomy.
Such delicacy is presented and the baton of wisdom in times of such trial is passed down to the next generation pastors/shepherds
sound& clear theology?
I observe that in difficult circumstances tough questions and theological questions needs to be addressed with sound theology and clarity of communication than ever.
Parents experiencing the death of their young child or experiencing unwanted abortion needs know what the Bible says about the spiritual heritage and salvation of the child. This might be the only teaching moment for such passage for a lot of the congregation. It seemed crucial for the preacher to not shy away from emotionally engaging the situation of the sheep.
As a shepherd I need to be mindful to do so with loving heart in order for true comfort to be communicated through the sound theology.
I feel that it is the pastor’s privilege and also the very essential role to inform the loved ones and the congregation with sound theology what and how they ought to understand and process such difficult situations.
