As pastors we are lonely. We need to make decision whether to “sallow the red pill” (a class scene in the movie of “The Matrix”) for being more truthful to ourselves and to the church we serve. We do see false prophet serving as a compromised watchdog, thinking only of a peaceful retirement, not caring for the true well-being of the church. He actually thinks of only himself. So, people like him. Because he is not being true to them. He never angers with them. He always smiles to everyone. He looks like a good old man, trustworthy father and grandfather. But you can’t find him because he is on vacation or for family matters. He visits people, too. He visits them because by doing so it makes himself feeling like a pastor. He needs the church much more than she needs him. He doesn’t want church to grow up. He hopes her never grow up, so that she will depend on him forever. For this reason, he preaches laws, instead of the gospel. He enjoys being treated as a master, not Lord’s servant.

A true watchdog pastor is lonely. He is not popular because he is true to the truth and the church. People don’t like him because to face him is like facing truth. That makes them unable to do self-deception. He is excluded from the small groups of a church entertainment business. They claim, “He is just not so down-to-the-dearth. His preaching is out of context. He is too serious.” Because his gospel is hard to swallow, and hard to be compromised to their entertainment. They want laws rather than the gospel. Laws make them proud religious professionals. Gospel reminds them of merely sinners begging for grace.

The last issue is how long will this church have patience with this watchdog/watchman pastor? Or they just want a compromised false prophet?
